Would recommend staying here for anyone, but keeping in mind it is not the most social vibe . And when the waves are too big for swimming, you can always head to the nearby Montezuma Waterfall, the biggest, most spectacular waterfall on the Nicoya Peninsula. Another nearby waterfall, El Chorro, tumbles off a cliff onto a rocky beach a few kilometers east of town.
With great value hostels and cheap hotels, everything you want to see and do is just a step away. Montezuma is a fun little town with many artisan vendors, cool shops and amazing restaurants! We didn't have a bad meal the entire time we were there. The beaches are beautiful and offer shade and nature and there are opportunities to take guided tours on ATV, horseback, by foot or boat. You can even take a water taxi to Jaco for an overnight. A great town, I highly recommend staying for at least 2 nights.
