Roman-born Chef Di Lorio has been Aroma’s head chef since it opened in 2010 and his fine work has earned the restaurant a Michelin star. While embracing seasonality, the owner/chef Roy Salomon Caceres creates fusion Italian dishes that take influence from South America, particularly his homeland Colombia. Signature dishes include lamb tartare with oyster emulsion and spicy capsicum powder and fregula, plankton, warty-venus clams and caviar. An absolute must, however, is Caceres’s world-famous Carbonara egg 65°, a deconstructed version of Rome’s classic pasta dish. Located within the Parioli district, this one-Michelin starred restaurant is classic yet contemporary in design, with a distinct culinary identity that balances tradition and experimentation.

They are best known for two of their pasta dishes – “Cacio e Pepe and Alla Gricia” which is basically pasta with oil, pepper and parmigiano, then for the latter you add bacon. The owner’s dad is an ex-boxer and there are many pictures of him on the wall capturing him in his heyday. If you visit you can often see him walking around chatting to customers during the evening. There was a nice-looking place 10 minutes away from us, so we decided to go for it. When we got there, we found out that it was more of a wine bar than a cafe, and the decor was super cool… there were awesome chill vibes. We decided to skip the coffee and go straight to cheese and wine.
While by night, Barnum Café is a great place to sip delicious drinks with friends , by day it has a more peaceful atmosphere, perfect for catching up on some reading in a quiet corner. There are also plenty of newspapers and magazines laid out to read if you need a study break. This café community also runs successful language courses, with beginner’s Italian being the most popular, so drop in and brush up on some key holiday vocabulary!
Club Derriere is actually located through a hidden door in the back of a restaurant, Osteria Delle Coppelle. They’ll give you the password when you make your reservation. I’d love if your stay in Rome is more delicious thanks to my post! My only advice is to check the working hours and days just in case before you go – some of places are closed on Mondays, some of them are only open for lunch and dinner, etc. The restaurant itself is a go-to for Rome’s rich and famous. The main dining room is full of beautiful reproductions of master painters, all with slight alterations.

It’s a perfect stop if you are away of the well-known names and you are looking for an authentic lunch in Rome. Very simple interior typical of the old osteria rionale of Rome with wooden tables and chairs and a dashboard for the daily menu make it for a cozy and family environment.
